Wifi on the Grand Place
27 Apr 2014 - 27 Apr 2014
Tourists will now be able to post their selfie with Manneken Pis on social networks while Brussels natives and expats can check their email or ask Google something.
Practical details
A press conference on Monday with Yvan Mayeur and his deputy burgomaster in charge of computer science, Mohamed Ouriaghli, explained the practical details of the project. Various popular and emblematic squares around Brussels will eventually be equipped with wifi connection, such as Place de la Monnaie and Place de Brouckère in July 2014. In October 2014, Place du Jeu de Balle, Place Rouppe, and Place Emile Bockstael will join the free wifi club.
So pull out your smart phone, choose "Bru-Wifi", accept the terms and conditions, and you're on your way! Two hours of free wifi connection, and then you will have to reconnect for a new session. Five antennas situated around the Grand Place will be able to accomodate you and about 1000 other users at the same time.
Useful information, events, even open parking spaces will be integrated to the homepage, only to enhance your experience of the Capital of Europe!
