What to do during the Carnaval break?
26 Feb 2017 - 04 Mar 2017
Day after day, here are a few suggestions to have a successful Carnaval week. Hurry up: 7 days go by fast!
Monday
To be sure not to forget anything, make a plan or a programme on what to do during the rest of the week.
Tuesday
Mardi Gras (or Shrove Tuesday)! Far away from the oranges and ostrich feathers of Binche, the carnaval of the Maisons de Quartier of Brussels will take place in the streets of Laeken.
Wednesday
All year long, you await impatiently for the arrival of Wednesday and its movie releases? Try out something new then, by going to Flagey to try out the Festival Anima (animation movies). An alternative in that neighborhood is Planète Danse by Mamémo at the Marni (show for kids in French). Back home, you can re-watch your cartoon classics by getting some inspiration from our 25 Disney characters on holiday in Brussels.
Thursday
Are you tired of seeing all your friends post pictures of them skiing on Facebook? Then how about you go for a little stroll down the slopes? You can either go on the synthetic grass of Yeti Ski in Anderlecht or on the artificial snow of Snowworld: a short-ish trip to the Netherlands that could be coupled with some time spent in Maastricht.
Friday
With or without fish for lunch, your Friday can be dedicated to culture: know more about the human brain at the Museum of Natural Sciences or discover Brussels and its numerous comic books with Bruxelles, ma bulle (in French). Other options include the exhibitions on Merck-Ickx (in French) and 14-18, c'est notre histoire (about World War I). During the evening, why not go ice skating at Poseidon on some good old disco music.
Saturday
For Saturday, here are some family activities. If the weather is nice, perhaps go enjoy the Brussels fauna (in French). If it's raining or a bit too chilly, go for the mini-golf option. That's always fun. The Goolfy of Waterloo and of Forest offers some games in the dark (with neon lights to guide you). And whether before, in between or after these activities, you can always go for a good waffle.
Sunday
Let's finish this week of Carnaval with a... carnaval. The Marolles will have an appearance of Venice throughout the weekend. Costumes and masks of Venice are of course welcome.
