Shops open on Sunday
02 Apr 2016 - 28 Dec 2017
For several months now, our capital has followed close on the heels of Europe’s big cities. Inhabitants of Brussels can now do their shopping on Sunday in the city centre’s shops. In 2015, the Pentagon was recognised as a tourist zone by the majority of Brussels inhabitants and more recently, the city heights have been granted the much-sought after opening. These decisions make it possible for small traders to obtain a dispensation from the dominical rest legal framework.
To which shops does this apply?
In order to favour small shopkeepers, the decision does not apply to the major retailers that, for their part, have chosen to open on only one Sunday per month. In the city centre, therefore, the shops on Neuve Street will await your custom only on the first Sunday of the month. This is also the case of the shops in the districts of Louise and Porte de Namur, in the city heights.
Entertainment activities
During the Sunday openings, entertainment activities are planned to distract both the young and the old in between two purchases!
