Peregrine Chicks At St Gudule
03 Apr 2017 - 24 May 2017
To witness this beautiful natural spectacle, the Belgian Natural Science Institute has had two cameras installed right beside the nest. The images are sent live to a television set installed in a building site on the cathedral square. Ornithologists will answer all your questions on the spot, from Tuesday to Sunday, from 12 to 6 p.m. If you’re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of the falcons through the telescope!
In fact, a completely exceptional spectacle is being offered to the inquisitive! For the peregrine falcon is a bird that for several decades had completely disappeared from our lands. And because of its wingspan and the blinding speed of its dives (nearly 200mph), it gives off a certain nobility in the Brussels sky! But before that, the peregrine falcon was a baby chick. Its parents nourished it, looked after it, and cuddled it without respite.
This spectacle will be visible on live images transmitted 24 hours a day until May 20th. Binoculars and telescopes are also welcome for watching the pair's comings and goings, as well as their spectacular pigeon hunting!
