¡NewAmigosVille!

Every Tuesday all across Europe people with different mother tongues meet to play, have fun and learn from each other. In Belgium, Café Monk in Brussels, Bar Del Sol in Leuven and Mosquito Coast in Ghent are the local additions to this growing international network. The first language café opened in Oslo in 2002 and became an immediate success. Quickly 8 new language cafés followed in Norway and Germany. During 2006 the network expanded to major cities in the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Austria. The English-Norwegian musician and globetrotter Lakki Patey is the inventor of the language game and the founder of the international network of language cafés. He explains: "More and more people travel the world to experience other cultures; however, many end up spending most of their time with other travellers. On the other hand, those who speak some of the local language get to participate and make new friends in the culture they are visiting." At ¡NewAmigosVille! the board game acts as the catalyst. Gathered around the game board, new and old friends of all ages solve language, quiz and role-play assignments and discover the language of their choice as the dice roll and laughs are shared. And best of all: no previous knowledge is required to enjoy a beneficial evening!
