Djangofolllies
12 Jan 2018 - 31 Jan 2018
As usual, the festival goes beyond the boundaries of musical genre. The public of the Djangofolllies therefore gets to enjoy various musical experiences: traditional jazz, experiments on flamenco, poetry of Garcia Lorca and many more.
Although many big names are always present, the festival gives room for new talents, who therefore have the opportunity to play in front of a large audience.
32 concerts will be given in 27 different venues across the country. Find out more about the entire programme here.
Origine
Django Reinhardt was born on the 23th of January 1910 in Liberchies, a small village in the south of Belgium. He grew up in a gipsy family and learned to play the banjo, guitar and violin at a very young age. When he first heared the music of Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington, he was completely blown away. Soon he added elements of jazz and musette in his own gipsy music, and created a new style of music: Manouche or Hot-Club Jazz, which is being considered as the European answer to the American swing.
