Cantania - A thousand and one cities

A unique adventure that makes you sing with your students!Through the Cantania project, Bozar introduces teachers and students to the inspiring power of song. Are you looking for a project that stimulates children's creativity, concentration, long-term memory and collaborative spirit? Then participate in Cantania!Cantania is a participatory vocal project for children from 4th to 6th grade in Brussels. The objective is to anchor singing in the classroom for a long time because it stimulates self-esteem, respect for others and improves the feeling of cohesion between the children.During four days of training, you will be immersed in the cantata written especially for children, in order to familiarize yourself with the work, its themes as well as its textual and musical content. You will receive tips and tools to be able to teach it in turn to your students in a caring and fun way. The songs that make up the cantata are in French and Dutch, which gives the project an extra richness.In June 2023, a big performance will invite parents, family, and friends to gather at Bozar to listen to the young choristers accompanied on stage by the Belgian National Orchestra.A thousand and one citiesThe cantata that will be performed during the school year 2022-2023 is based on a composition by Liesa Van der Aa and on the text of 'National Poet 2021' Carl Norac. Once upon a time there was a city, in Brussels as elsewhere.In this city live two children with extraordinary talents.There is Dario: a word juggler who creates poems by walking (and stumbling).Then there is Ella, an inventor who collects sounds to make music of her time.As if by chance, their paths collide! Together they think they can take on the world, superheroes!And this world needs them, because it is suffering...Do their children's voices carry enough to save it?It is an eclectic, rhythmic cantata full of poetry, melodies, and joyfully provocative sounds... In this work, the inventiveness, creativity, and talents (hidden or not) of everyone are honored.
