For many families there is a need to find childcare facilities for their younger children. This is a definite need when both parents work, but can also be a choice to encourage children who would otherwise remain without the contact of their peers to socialise. In Brussels there is a range of options on offer which we shall present here to help you find the solution most adapted to your needs.

Subsidised or not

Several types of childcare provision exist, all managed by an organisation that, once it has checked the quality of the provision, safety standards, staffing and the structure provided for the children, gives its stamp of authorisation: it is called the ONE (Office de la Naissance et de l'Enfance).

When dealing with non-subsidised childcare facilities, the quality is the same and the control by the ONE is just as conscientious, especially in terms of educational activities. However, as these centres receive no grant for their activities, they do not use the compulsory sliding scales for daily rates and are not obliged to respect the same opening hours.
