2007 will be the 50th anniversary year of the signing of the Treaty of Rome. An event that the European Commission has chosen to celebrate by co-producing the exhibition "Leonardo da Vinci - The European Genius" with the ASBL "Europa 50" and the ASBL "Collections & Patrimoines".
This gigantic and prestigious exhibition will be held from 18th Agust 2007 till 15th March 2008 in the Koekelberg Basilica. It will explore, over 3,000 square meters, Leonardo da Vinci's life, paintings and sculptures, apparatuses, atomic research and writings via paintings, models, rare documents, apparatuses and the Codex issued from the Florence, Rome, Milan, Vinci, London and Amboise museums.
Between the period replica of the " Last Supper " from the Tongerlo Abbey and the first moving chariot, the parachute or the flying wing mock ups, a vast number of contemporary pieces from the period of this universal genius will be exhibited as well as facsimiles of the famous Codex.
