Next July 7th and 8th, the Thespis amateur theatre company will be playing the Oscar Wilde masterpiece, "An Ideal Husband" in the Théâtre du Résidence Palace.
Enthusiastically staged in French for the entertainment of an international audience, this work is both amusing and exciting. An absolute marvel with its sparkling humour, freshness, elegance and quickness of mind. The incisive observations of the prodigious Irishman, Oscar Wilde Oscar, have stood the test of time.
The history depicts the London of the end of the 19th century. The intriguing Mrs Cheveley, member of the diplomatic corps accredited to Vienna, descends on a soirée given by Lady Chiltern, whose "ideal husband", Sir Robert Chiltern, is an Under-Secretary of State at the Foreign Office.
Mrs Cheveley secretly brings a compromising letter concerning Sir Robert Chiltern. Lord Goring comes to his aid. How will he be able to thwart the intriguer? Stéphanie Guillaume
