On June 14th, the Huelgas Ensemble will revive its successful collaboration with the Fadistas de Lisboa. After much in-depth research, Paul Van Nevel uncovered astounding resemblances between contemporary fado and sixteenth century villancico. Common to both musical styles was the saudade. Give in to this feeling of melancholy and you will find yourself weeping the Tears of Lisbon.
