Tango Libre is the last movie of Frédéric Fonteyne. Come along for an evening in the presence of the director, Anne Paulicevich and tango dansers Mariano 'Chicho' Frumboli and Pablo Hernan Tegli.
Prison guard JC (François Damiens) lives an uneventful life. Except, that is, for his once a week tango lessons. One evening, at his dancing class, he pairs with a newcomer, Alice (Anne Paulicevich), a lively thirty-year old and mother of a 15 year old teenager. The next day, he sees the same woman in the prison visiting room. She is visiting two prisoners, Fernand (Sergi Lopez) and Dominic (Jan Hammenecker), two long-time accomplices. One is her husband, the other her lover.
Tango Libre completes Frédéric Fonteyne's trilogy focused on the mechanics of women and love. Following An Affair of Love (Une liaison pornographique) and Gilles' Wife (La femme de Gilles), he proposes - through the eyes of an enamoured prison guard - the portrait of a woman who (like the tango itself) accepts constraints in order to better overcome them.
