You love skiing, but don't have enough free time to spend a week in the Alps, Tyrol or elsewhere? BrusselsLife has the solution: the Vosges! A guaranteed change of scenery, just 450 km from Brussels.
In the heart of the Ballons des Vosges, La Bresse has all winter pleasures you could wish for: a skiing domain called La Bresse-Hohneck with 37 runs of varying difficulty (www.labresse-remy.com), 50 km of cross-country skiing pistes (www.labresse.net), snowshoe walks (www.bureau-montagne-hautes-vosges.com) and toboggan runs.
Just a few windy bends away from La Bresse, with its pastoral lake Gérardmer also has an interesting skiing domain (www.gerardmer-ski.com): 20 runs, including 2 black, 1 snow-park and, just like at La Bresse, night-time skiing. All Sébastien Loeb fans and lovers of the Trophée Andros can try Déval'Kart at Xonrupt: or how to get giddy on engine-free speed and sliding!
Other interesting ski resorts, ideal for families because safe for little ones are Saint-Maurice sur Moselle (www.saintmaurice-vosges.com), Bussang (www.bussang.com) and Ventron (www.frerejo.com), to name but a few.
Skiing apart, the Vosges is a very charming region: traditional Christmas markets, spa treatments, great scenery... We will present the region in more depth another time. For now, it's time to schuss! Frédéric Solvel
