Nelson Freire returns to the Centre with Brahms's magnificent Second Piano Concerto.
It would be hard to find a better interpreter of this Romantic masterpiece, in which the composer demonstrates exceptional melodic inventiveness, than the celebrated Brazilian pianist. As a bonus, the St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Yuri Temirkanov, will treat us to two key works by Prokofiev, his symphony tribute to Mozart and a selection of extracts from his ballet Romeo and Juliet.
