Founded 40 years ago within the Palais des Beaux-Arts, close to the central station, the cinema museum will undergo total refurbishment between now and 2007. The two theatres, which contain 125 and 35 seats respectively, will be adapted to modern comfort, sound and vision norms, all in an architectural style that remains true to Victor Horta.
In the meantime, the cinema museum remains open and for the new school term offers a range of screenings on themes that will delight all film buffs. During the whole month of October, film-goers will be able see again the whole of Wim Wenders' opus, the German director famous for Buena Vista Social Club and The Million Dollar Hotel, to name but a few. Until the end of the year, the museum will run a special season devoted to Russian film called Rouskoïe kino. From the avant-garde school to the great Russian contemporary directors, via films dedicated to the Russian Revolution, the audience can discover the many facets of this often underrated cinema from the East. A whole range of other themes (silent films, films from the past, Jewish films, classical matinées…) complete the very dense daily schedule of this special museum devoted to preserving our film heritage.
