Not only is Esa-Pekka Salonen one of today's greatest composers, but he is also a renowned composer.
This concert shows both sides of the Finnish star. We will hear his Violin Concerto, written in 2009, in which the soloist will be the US violinist Leila Josefowicz, to whom the work is dedicated. The programme also includes music by Sibelius, one of Salonen's favourite composers, and Beethoven's Seventh Symphony, acclaimed by Wagner as "the apotheosis of the dance".
