On the occasion of 01/10, Frank Vander Linden and Nicolas Michaux, respectively singers with the De Mens and Eté 67 groups, had performed a bilingual version of Voir un ami pleurer/Een vriend zien huilenon (To see a friend in tears) in the Place des Palais, Brussels. Touched by the emotion and the pertinence of Jacques Brel's lyrics in the Belgian Community context, the performers had then decided to record them in a studio.
Marc-Henri, who mixed this version of Brel's title, and who specialises in the distribution of personalised content on the Internet, proposed to make this performance a "do-it-yourself" duet. That's now been done!
As from 20 December 2007, Internet users will be able to create their own duets of Voir un ami pleurer/Een vriend zien huilen (a Jacques Brel song, Flemish adaptation of Johan Verminnen) with a Flemish performer and a French-speaking performer of their choice. Once the duet has been created, they will be able to download their personal version of the song free of charge. Each singer has sung in both languages (the French-speaking singers have therefore also sung in Flemish). A German-speaking singer has also sung the song in German
