For all kind of swimmers, Brussels swimming pools
On the contrary, in order to have the best time possible, you have to choose the right pool. Have a look on Brusselslife.be.
As for the traditional pools with individual locker rooms we direct you to Victor Boin in Saint Gilles and its homologue in Ixelles. With a 1930s look, a change of scene and exercise go hand in hand. Unfortunately, the magnificent swimming pool of the Résidence Palace is not open anymore to the general public.
In the category of pools you should visit at least once in your life, the Bains de Bruxelles is worth the detour! Inside, on top of the pools and locker rooms, the Bains has public showers for a population lacking in at home sanitation. The upstaris pool, shown in the photo below, offers a panormic view of the Marolles neighborhood.
Late opening hours
As for those who don't have time during the day, there are some possibilities to find late opening hours at the VUB swimming pool at Espadon. it is not compulsory to wear a bathing cap at VUB: an advantage for some, an inconvenience for others! In addition to being open from 7:30 every day and until 9 pm on Wednesday and Friday, the Longchamp pool in Uccle is also open on Sunday morning! So no more excuses ! The Poséidon is also open every morning at 7:30 am, while Nereus and the Bains de Bruxelles open at 7:30 during the week.
The Ixelles pool is open until 9 pm on Mondays and from 8 am to 6 pm on Sundays. The pool in Dilbeek is open until 10:30 pm on Wednesdays and Fridays. Several gyms include a pool as well...
Price of public swimming pools
Their price is relatively similar everywhere. If you are a resident of the commune it is located in, you should be expected to pay between 2,5 and 3 €. If you are resident in another commune, you will pay between 3 and 5 €.
Family outings
Do you know your municipality's pool? In Woluwe-Saint-Pierre, we will mention the Poséidon for your family activities. What about elsewhere? The Calypso of Watermal, the Neptunium in Schaerbeek, or the Triton in Evere...
You might even have the chance to try out the one in Dilbeek or in Neder Over Heembeek.
After being closed for 12 years, Nereus is opening up their doors in Ganshoren. The pool needed a renovation. A brand new swimming pool awaits us!
As for private pools, you've got that too in Brussels. If you would like to learn how to dive, Nemo 33 is your place. For relaxation and fun, head to Océade or to Aqualibi. Finally, the privileged guests of the Sheraton at Place Rogier can go for a dip on the 30th floor of the hotel. It might be hard to string together some laps, but what a view!
If it's hot enough, go for an outdoor swim!
Swimming pools without chlorine
Pools in Brussels are dropping chloring little by little. A great opportunity for parents looking to go swimming with their young infants. Two pools have already given it up: the Espadon in Etterbeek works with sand filters and UV lamps. The Triton in Evere also has a new water treatment system with UV.
Regarding private pools, New Archimède in Ixelles and the Baignoire in Etterbeek disinfect their water with salt electrolysis.
Pools closed for renovation
Unfortunately due to poor coordination between them, several pools are currently closed. The pool in Laeken, which was due for reopening in January 2014, is still closed until 15 August 2015. The pool in Molenbeek should reopen during Fall 2015 and the Saint-François pool in Saint-Josse is prolonging its renovation until end of 2015. Last but not least, the swimming pool in Ixelles will finally stay opened in 2015 and will start its 2-year renovation in 2016.
