Place Flagey has recently started major works set to last four years. The aim is to build a basin to collect rainwater during heavy downpours, a staggering project at the centre of many a debate. But that's another story.
Alongside such construction-oriented controversy, the « Arborescence » group is taking action by decorating the walls surrounding the building site with twenty-one panels representing elements from Belgium's urban, social and folklore realities. An artistic "mise en abyme" to make passers-by (re)discover the most beautiful scenery from around the kingdom as seen through the photographer's lens. It's quite eerie passing in front of the country's various tourism sites whilst also strolling by the "steamship building" on Place Flagey! How wonderful to have the gift of ubiquity whilst treading the cobblestones of a square in Brussels...
