Fennesz & Mike Patton, the long awaited titan dual in experimental circles. Both gentlemen take on the challenge on stage. Expect complete creative freedom: sound collages of krautrock, sampled voices, drones, echoes of melotron... and all that in an avant-gardish improvisation.
In one corner Mike Patton, practically a regular now as he's already performed here in AB with his bands Fantômas, Tomahawk, Fantômas-Melvins Big Band and more recently in a unique collaboration with John Zorn. Patton will of course also always be the singer of the late great Faith No More and the man behind the adventurous Ipecac label. Patton is also the architect of bands like Mr. Bungle and Peeping Tom. As far as musical collaborations go he's seen his name shine beside Dan the Automator, Merzbow, Björk and Rahzel. As vocalist Mike Patton is known for his various vocal techniques such as falsetto, crooning, beat boxing, death metal grunts and scatting.
In the other corner we find the Austrian Fennesz. This laptop musician can effortlessly work with diverse musicians like Sparklehorse, Ryuichi Sakamoto or David Sylvian. His electronic sound variegations are full of warm noises and emotional subtlety. The album 'Venice' dates from 2004 already but this year we expect a brand new album on the quality Touch label. Fennesz can also be seen during the Domino festival, on April 14.
