These young German musicians made a big impression at their previous Brussels concert in the Conservatory. Bozar delighted to welcome them back again in a superb programme that includes - as well as two masterpieces of the piano quartet repertoire (by Mozart and Brahms) - a rarity: a fragment for piano quartet by Mahler.
The Fauré Quartet formed in 1995 at the Karlsruhe Conservatory of Music naming itself after the composer Gabriel Fauré out of affection for his two piano quartets. The quartet has rapidly developed from a successful up-and-coming ensemble into an exceptional piano quartet. Deutsche Gramophon recognised this when selecting the ensemble to make new recordings of the two Mozart Piano Quartets for the Mozart anniversary in 2006.
The Fauré Quartet is a regular visitor to France, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Finland, Britain, Japan and many other countries. They are also regular visitors to South America and Mexico. In 2006 the ensemble undertook its fifth tour of the American continent.
