A Malian goddess with a gentle, velvety voice, FatoumataDiawara is one of West Africa's best-kept secrets.
Her music, shaped by collaborations with artists such as ToumaniDiabaté, Herbie Hancock, and Dee-Dee Bridgewater, offers a subtle blend of Mandinka with jazz and blues influences. Her visit to the Centre for Fine Arts is in the context of a European tour to promote her first album, Fatou. This new idol of world music will speak to us of the lives of African women in a warm-hearted, sensitive performance - a must!
