Proud to be a European capital, the influence of «world» style décor in Brussels has increased recently. Particularly in the popular area downtown from the place du Jeu de balle to place de la Chapelle.
"Hence, in rue Haute the two exotic shops called ""Rambagh"" are worth a visit: just cross the door and - in a matter of seconds - you escape from the Brussels cobblestones to alleyways in Delhi, filled with the aroma of incense. A way of travelling without physically moving, a visit to these boutiques really transports you to another world. Furniture in exotic woods, luxurious fabrics, and decorative pieces are a speciality here. If you are at the other end of town and want to try the same sort of experience, visit «Tempo Doulou», equally disorienting, and just a stone's throw from Fort Jaco. From India we travel to Indonesia: most of the teak pieces on show are imported from there. For decorative items, one of our favourites is the range of shops called «Atchoum », rue Haute and « A vos souhaits », rue des Renards. The two shops belong to Claude Neuray who sells colourful objects brought back from travels to Asia. There are lamps, accessories and jewellery on sale. Slightly up-market, « La Compagnie française de l'Orient et de la Chine », just off avenue Louise has a vast range of luxury crockery and pottery in the Asian style. In the same vein, « Rouge » will take you to China, home of most of the crafts objects on offer here."
