Dirk Bikkembergs: from "Antwerp Six" to "FC Fossombrone"
Right from his very first collections, one could feel the influence of the sporting world in his creations. His shoe collections in particular have ensured his international reputation. Simple, figure-hugging lines, bright colours and the graphic shapes, are Dirk Bikkembergs pre-requisites. More than a line or a silhouette, Dirk Bikkembergs is above all a complete mindset. Because while he hasn't revolutionised the world of fashion or the world of sport, he has forced these two universes, at first sight opposed to one another, to come to terms with each other in order to create a new genre. Today the designer has become the owner of the Italian football club, FC Fossombrone, which he is using not only as a research laboratory but also as a shop window. The Club's exclusive fan shop was furthermore inaugurated last 18 September. It is a question of the only shop in the world where the collection designed exclusively by Bikkembergs for his club can be found. Not only football shirts, bags and underwear, but also "Bix" football boots sporting the designer's signature.
