2 years ago we saw 'The Greatest' of CAT POWER, through which singer/songstress Chan Marshall confirmed her international class. Her very latest CD 'Jukebox' is now the second covers album of her career (after'The Covers Album' of 2000).
This time she has taken songs by Frank Sinatra, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, James Brown and Bob Dylan and stripped them of unnecessary frills. The result is a bare but intimate sound, which is extremely well propelled by her accompanying band, the Dirty Delta Blues. From the band we recognise Jim 'Dirty Three' White and Judah 'Jon Spencer Blues Explosion' Bauer. With Gregg Foreman on keyboards and Erik Paparazzi on bass we have a sweltering concert to look forward to.
