Mushrooms, figs and pumpkins: it's autumn in your plate. Every season has its star attractions. Summer is now behind us and Autumn is knocking on our doors. This season offers a whole festival of colours and flavours, both in nature and on the plate.
Starting in October, peaches make way for plums, strawberries step aside for figs and home-grown apples take the place of melon.
This is also the season where pumpkin prevails. Mashed, in soups, or just steamed and lightly seasoned, it brings colour and goodness. And once empty, you can use the shell to make a scary lantern.
Vegetables
When it comes to vegetables, think of using wild mushrooms, chicory ("chicons") and the many varieties of cabbage to suit all palates. Favouring seasonal fruit and veg. has a direct impact on the household budget, but also on our bodies. Picked when ripe, they are crammed with vitamins and trace elements that the body needs to prepare for a long, hard winter. Fanny GuillaumeDid you like this article?
