In the wake of its remarkable complete Beethoven string quartets, the Artemis Quartet returns with an evening of greatly varied moods.
The String Quartet Op. 76 No. 5 is one of Haydn's most ambitious chamber music works. The masterly Quartet No. 13 is the first of Schubert's maturity, in which he freed himself from the style of Mozart and Haydn. Dutilleux's Ainsi la nuit, finally, looks at time and memory, exploring the concepts of prefiguration and memory.
