On the occasion of the centenary of the prestigious American studio Universal, BOZAR CINEMA presents the latest film by Joe Wright, Anna Karenina with Keira Knightley and Jude Law. Belgian twist: the choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, who designed the choreography of the film.
The famous English film director, Joe Wright shares his iconoclastic and theatrical interpretation of Leon Tolstoy's tumultuous love story, Anna Karenina. Set in late nineteenth-century Russian high society Anna Karenina recounts the story of Anna, a young woman, who is married to Alexis Karenin, a high-ranking government official. She embarks on an adulterous affair with Count Vronsky in spite of the risks involved in such a liaison at this level of society. But soon everyone at the court is aware of their relationship. Anna, who hesitates to choose between intuition and reason, decides to leave her husband and her son to follow her lover. A choice with catastrophic consequences...
Award-winning Belgian-Moroccan choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui created the choreography for Anna Karenina. A number of dancers from his company, Eastman, took part in the dance scenes.
