Capoeira is one of the most unusual martial arts in the world: developed in Brazil by African slaves, its exact origin remains uncertain. It is said that the slaves perfected fighting techniques that masked their movements in a kind of dance in order to avoid retaliation from their Portuguese "masters".
Music is therefore at the heart of this art: songs and instruments (berimbau, atabaque and pandeiro) are part of every roda. What differentiates capoeira from other martial arts is first and foremost its style. To develop, it had to hide, show trickery and tactics: the game consists of a sequence of strikes and feints to trap the opponent...
Abadá Capoeira
Abadá Capoeira is an association created in 1988 by Mestre Camisa. Its purpose is to spread Afro-Brazilian culture through the practice of capoeira. Integration and tolerance forming the founding principles, it brings together students from a wide range of backgrounds and walks of life. Abadá Capoeira is today one of the main ways that Afro-Brazilian culture is spread through Brazil and throughout the world. The Instructors
