Manuel Murillo Perdomo, aka 13pulsions has a psychology degree and is also a portrait painter. Through the different people he has met, he creates atypical and true characters.
Behind this nickname, you find a 26 years old young artists, graduated in psychology. During his studies, he had beginning a theory. There is hidden the origin of his nickname. Inspired by the drive theory of Freud, who had found that man has 13 different instincts.
At the beginning, Manuel was a street artist. So, at first he started painting on cities' walls such as Brussels, Barcelona... Today, he'd rather express himself on a canvas, wood, cloths, decorative accessories... using acrylic, paint spray or markers. Even if his first exhibitions was quite shy, 13pulsions is now a well-adjusted artist, joining a lot of exhibitions: Truc Troc at Bozar, Plastic at Gésu Church or Art'n Bloom at Bloom Hotel, etc.
From the streets to the galleries
13pulsions started out on the streets but he thinks that galleries are a better way for him to express his art now. 13pulsions: ' I really ½love in my artistic work is talking with people who have seen my paintings. I love getting to know their feelings, impression and sharing their perception with mine'. All of this was impossible when he was working in the streets. Anyway most of the time, the remarks he got was negative because of the illegal nature of his paintings. Thanks to the exhibitions in galleries, he can now be seen by a wide public and he can also get constructive criticism. Kriss Gutierrez Cuervo
